The Mid-Hudson School Study Council on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, sent an email to all Superintendents in the 7-county region which included an electronic survey designed to capture the level of preparation of teacher candidates graduating from the 14 teacher education institutions located in our region. The data collected will be used for a variety of purposes. (1) It will assist in identifying areas of teacher need in our schools over the next six years, (2) it will identify, college or university, the level of graduate from their teacher preparation program and how prepared they are to perform in our classrooms, and (3) it will gather data from the field to inform colleges and universities of any adjustments necessary in their curriculum/teacher preparation experience that will better prepare new teachers for success in the field.  Your participation is vital to our gathering a robust data set. Questions can be referred to the MHSSC office.  The deadline for survey participation is October 28, 2016. Thank you in advance for your participation as we partner with our higher education colleagues in an effort to prepare today’s college students for a successful teaching career. Together, through our collaborative work, all K-12 students will benefit.
